Standard 5-ESS3-1: Obtain and combine information about ways individual communities use science ideas to protect the Earth's resources and environment. This lesson includes five journal articles, four lesson plans, and one interactive e-book. Most of the resources focus on how people can help the earth by using the 3 Rs' of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. The journal articles are different ways and activities to use and teach in the classroom, along with some information related to the topic. The lesson plans that are included are mostly 5E lesson models and incorporate trade/children's books in the lesson. The interactive e-book has a lot of informational text. I especially looked at Science Object 4: Using Technology to Address Resource Use Issues in the e-book, which gives information that is needed for this standard.
