TSL logoStudents deserve access to high-quality, meaningful science instruction—and OpenSciEd is built with multilingual learners in mind.

In this session, we’ll dive into the specific strategies using new video footage from a middle school OpenSciEd classroom to see how OpenSciEd strategies and routines promote language development alongside science understanding. You’ll learn how the curriculum fosters opportunities for multilingual learners to share ideas, build vocabulary, and participate confidently in scientific discourse.

Key Takeaways:

  • How OpenSciEd’s design supports multilingual learners
  • Strategies that promote language-rich, collaborative science classrooms
  • Real-world video examples from classrooms using OpenSciEd with students with varied learning needs

Who Should Attend:

  • Science educators (grades 6–8 and beyond)
  • Multilingual learner coordinators and ELD specialists
  • Instructional coaches and curriculum leaders
  • School and district administrators

All individuals receive a certificate of participation and 100 NSTA activity points for attending the live seminar and completing the end-of-program survey. A certificate of participation is not awarded for watching the recorded version of the program.
