Member Web Seminar

Transforming Science Learning logoThe Putting the Pieces Together routine is a cornerstone of OpenSciEd instruction. It gives students structured opportunities to reflect, synthesize, and connect what they have learned across lessons, deepening their understanding of scientific phenomena.

Join us for this hands-on webinar designed to help you confidently implement the Putting the Pieces Together routine in your classroom.

Participants will learn how to:

  • Recognize when and why to use the Putting the Pieces Together routine in a unit
  • Facilitate class discussions that help students make sense of their learning over time
  • Use tools like class consensus models, driving question boards, and summary tables to track understanding
  • Support all students in making connections between lessons and anchoring phenomena
  • See examples from real classrooms and receive adaptable resources to use right away

Who should attend:

  • Science teachers (grades 6–8)
  • Instructional coaches
  • Facilitators working with OpenSciEd materials

Help students connect ideas, build understanding, and make sense of science—one piece at a time.

All individuals receive a certificate of participation and 100 NSTA activity points for attending the live seminar and completing the end-of-program survey. A certificate of participation is not awarded for watching the recorded version of the program.

We invite you to register for upcoming web seminars at NSTA.
