As science becomes more advanced in its techniques and approaches, incorporating them into K-12 classrooms, as recommended by the NGSS, can feel overwhelming. This is particularly true of data science, which is its own field of study, complete with practices and core ideas focused on collecting, analyzing, and visualizing streams of numerical data.
In this webinar we share an easy to implement unit that can open students' minds to the world of data science and allow for easy integration of data literacy into all of your science units.
All individuals receive a certificate of participation and 100 NSTA activity points for attending the live seminar and completing the end-of-program survey. A certificate of participation is not awarded for watching the recorded version of the program.

Below are comments from individuals who attended the seminar:
- "I enjoyed this Web Seminar because it made data science practical and accessible for use in the classroom. The most interesting aspect that I learned in this Web Seminar was about the ‘usage of sensor data to make a connection between the world beyond the classroom and the worlds that students are interested in."
- "I loved the innovative topic and how to encourage students to brainstorm digitally!"
- "I really enjoyed the web seminar. I loved seeing how sensors can collect real-time data and how students can use it to explore real-world problems. The hands-on examples gave me great ideas for my classroom and inspired me to bring more data science activities to my students."
- "I thought this webinar was very valuable, I learned about a new online gallery walk/post it questions board and another way to use AI for positive impacts with the students as well as myself! I am still new to it."
A certificate of attendance was deposited into participants' account page for completing the evaluation form at the end of the program.
