Member Web Seminar

Join us on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, from 7:00 PM ET to 8:30 PM ET, for part 2 of this two-part series about how to use student assets to support science learning for all students.

Phenomenon-driven teaching provides opportunities for students’ curiosity and interest to drive the learning. But what if students’ are not curious/interested from the outset? This two-part web seminar series will provide strategies to use student assets (lived experiences, family and other communities’ interests and concerns, for example) to intentionally build students’ curiosities, interests, and/or concerns about the phenomenon/problem as part of the learning.

Join us for one or both parts of this two-part series to experience building on the wealth of knowledge and experience students bring with them into the classroom—whether a kindergartener or high school senior—to support science learning for all your students! Gather strategies through immersions in high-quality instructional materials, reflecting on the science and engineering practices, and scaffolds and supports for student discourse.

This is part two of a two-part web seminar series. You do not need to attend Part 1 to join us for Part 2 (but we hope you do!)

All individuals receive a certificate of participation and 100 NSTA activity points for attending the live seminar and completing the end-of-program survey. A certificate of participation is not awarded for watching the recorded version of the program.
