Universal Design for Learning Science: Reframing Elementary Instruction in Physical Science authors Deborah Hanuscin and Delinda van Garderen share how designing science instruction using asset-based thinking creates opportunities for all our students to see themselves as scientists and experience success!
Participants in this book study will learn how Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in the context of thoughtfully-crafted three-dimensional* lessons can provide appropriately challenging and dynamic experiences for all students, including those with special needs. Through use of classroom vignettes and personal stories of elementary classroom teachers, participants will gain knowledge of implementing science lessons in diverse science classrooms. The authors will share how to make use of the information and resources provided in the book to easily implement UDL strategies that reduce or eliminate unnecessary barriers to learning.
