Join us on February 10, 12, 17, 19, and 24, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM ET, for an immersive professional learning experience exploring OpenSciEd Unit 8.4: Earth in Space. In this unit, students notice and explain patterns in the sky, beginning with the Sun setting perfectly between New York City buildings. They connect their own observations with Indigenous astronomies that show how celestial patterns shape life on Earth.
Participants will experience key lessons as students do, analyzing data, developing models, and uncovering how the Earth, Sun, and Moon interact to create familiar patterns. You’ll learn strategies to support student sensemaking and systems thinking while fostering meaningful, community-connected science learning.
