Hello! I'm a preservice teacher and will be teaching a science lesson for my practicum this semester. What are some science topics that would be appropriate for a Kindergarten class? Any book recommendations I could read to the class as a part of my lesson?

Hi Karsen, I found some resources with lists of books that can be used for science lessons for multiple ages. Check these out to see if you can use them for Kindergarten: http://common.nsta.org/resource/default.aspx?id=10.2505%2f4%2fsc17_054_07_75 http://common.nsta.org/resource/default.aspx?id=10.2505%2f4%2fsc17_054_07_22 If you use one of the trade books, let us know how the lesson went. -Megan

Hi Karsen --
I would recommend you look at the monthly column 'Teaching with Trade Books' in NSTA's Science and Children journal. In each issue, there are lessons for K-2 and 3-5 with a suggested trade book. The lessons are well designed and correlated to the NGSS for that grade level. As a example, check out lessons on animal adaptations: The Tool and the Eye. You can search for previous issues at the S&C in the archives.
