How effective is groupwork over individual work? Is It better for students to think and discuss with their peers or is It better for students to learn for themselves individually?
If done properly with instruction on how to work in a group it is more effective according to studies. However, you need to build in time to teach students how to work together, listen to each other, give them jobs and explain how those jobs work. Sitting them in groups to complete a worksheet is going to turn into copy everyone's answers. If accountability is built it it is very effective.
