What has worked for most educators in getting elementary students to become more engaged in science content?
Although I am not yet an educator and speaking from past experiences as a student, a way that I found helped me engage in science is when my teachers related the content to everyday life. For example, showing your students how science can be found in the chemistry of cooking or discussing how the weather is predicted through meteorology. This helps them see how science is truly all around us and part of everyone's daily lives.
Hello Amanda! I am not an educator yet, but I would like to believe that the knowledge my professors have instilled in me will allow me to be of some help. I think most educators would agree that being hands-on with the activites will allow the students to become more excited for the subject which engagment will follow right after. Another thind that would help students getting engaged is allowing them to do connections outside of school. For instance, giving them a small experiment they can work on at home with their parents even.
