Does anyone have any easy to read graphic for middle school students to use as a reminder when using claims, evidence, and reasoning?

Hi Pamela, There are several resources available for what you're asking about. All are appropriate for middle school students. The links for these resources are listed below. https://www.amnh.org/learn-teach/curriculum-collections/integrating-literacy-strategies-into-science-instruction/writing-a-scientific-explanation https://sepuplhs.org/pdfs/NARST_2016_Nagle.pdf I've also attached several documents you might also like to have your students use. I use CER in my undergraduate science courses for the discussions where students respond to a current topic with their evidence-based opinions. I have found that this graphic is very useful to my students, but it is likely at an appropriate level for your middle school students as well.

I also have them watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5KKsLuRPsvU

If anyone has a rubric for evaluating CER, I'd love to see what you've put together!

I created this for my students as a quick and easy reference! Perhaps this may help you and your students.
