Students use science knowledge and engineering skills to address a significant real-world problem.
I chose to read the journal article 'How Can We Provide Water for Developing Countries? 5E Unit Empowers Studnets to Solve the Global Water Crisis'. One part of this journal that I liked was that this unit would be preformed at the end of the school year so that studetns can use all of their knowledge and science concepts they have learned throughout the year to reach a decision about the best technology to use to get water to people that need it. At the beginning of the article, it talks about a book, A Long Walk to Water, that I am currently reading for another college class. The journal artical addresses each of the stages in the 5E model and what to do for each of these stages. I also enjoyed that for the unit, the students would be making a Google Slides presentation to present their C-R-E about what they consider to be the best solution to provide water to people. They make their opinion based on their building experience, from researching, testing models, and discussing their ideas with peers.
