Science, like many other subject areas, has a lot of different levels that help learners to grow at different paces. When there is a classroom of students and there is a variety of physical and intelectual dissabilities, how can one teacher make sure each student has the full learning experiance of experimentation, while still being challenged in their own area? I am a college student at Penn State Harrisburg and this is just one of my many questions about having a healthy inclusive classroom.
Gabrielle,
That is such a great question. I was wondering that myself when I was a new teacher to the profession.
In your studies, have you heard the word 'sensemaking'? I encourage you to look into this style of learning. Students bring to the table their background knowledge to work collaboratively to solve problems. All students actively participate to draw conclusions to solve a problem. I've listed a few of my favorite resources to view at your leisure.
The best of luck with your studies.
