I had block scheduling as a student and as a teacher and I honestly prefer it to having 8 classes per day. In my opinion it gives the students time to go through a full learning cycle on a topic- be introduced, stretch their thinking, and gel the new concept with old ones. As a teacher it also allots me some time to target certain groups who need more aid without worrying that they will miss pertinent instruction. On a more personal note, I do enjoy the variation in students I see from day to day. Sometimes students honestly don't want to see the same teacher everyday.
