What are some fun and interactive ways to teach Earth and Space Science in the higher elementary grade levels?
The best way would be to corelate the theory with the explanation. For example with every topic you're going to teach, you can look for a similar video on the internet and play it in your lecture, I saw it in a dubai metro, college. This will not only gain curiosity, but will also cast a practical image in the students minds of how things work. That'll work best, as at that age students are in the learning stage and they'll start getting a grasp of the subject.
Hi Stephanie, with the implementation of technology there are a lot of good apps students could use in the higher elementary grades. Stolaris is a good one that could be used as a class. It can be very challenging at times to use though so be careful! Also, I read someone used playdoh to make solar systems at their desks. Hope this helped!
Hello Stephanie! There are lots of engaging interactive activities that teachers can implement with their students. The teacher can assign the class to construct a model of the solar system in groups of three or four. Given that it will be a class activity, materials must be supplied. They will have two or three days to create it.
Hi Stephanie,
If possible, I think it would be fun and engaging for students to make an accurate model of the distance between the planets. This could be in a hallway or on a sidewalk with chalk. This could also tie in with a math lesson on ratios to make an accurate model.
