Hi, I am creating a lesson plan for my science class and I would like to know if anyone had tips or other activites I could use to simulate a land slide. I would like a hands-on project that third graders could do. I would also like more tips on the elaborate section of the lesson to show the shifing of the earth's plates.

Thank you in advance!

Great activity! Here is a video on setting up an activity for a mini-landslide. This one is much more elaborate but shows the importance of vegetation.

Hi, Kristina.  I think you could easily use aluminum pie plates and a bag of soil to have students build mounds of dirt and then flood them with water to simulate a land slide.  They could also build popsicle stick structures to incorporate into their model.  In regards to the elaborate component of your lesson you could do an edible plate tectonics activity with Oreos.  There are many examples of these you could search for.
