Phenomenas and how we can present them and refrain from explaining them

I am a preservice teacher and am having a hard time not explaining to my students first before allowing them to explore. It is hard to think of posing phenomena to my students and have them jump into exploring it with no background or information until after exploration is completed. I suppose the point of the 5E model lesson plans is to allow students to inquire first but it does feel backward to me coming from teachers who always explained why a phenomenon happened and then allowed us to then explore that phenomena. Is there a way to make it easier for me? Or is there a way to present a phenomenon in a foolproof way? I am just unsure of how to begin.

Thank you in advance!
