When teaching about nutrition to elementary school children, how in depth do you go to talk about eating disorders and when is the right age to talk about it?
I think that children today are becoming more and more exposed to these things and at earlier ages. I have a fourth grade class and we have talked in depth about drugs. Granted it is a inner city very low income school but children need to know the facts to protect themselves. The image the media portrays of how especially females should look is devastating. Young girls are aware of this and can have issues with their weight.
Hi Elaine, The Learning Center has a SciGuide for Nutrition (K-4) that you might find helpful. Like all SciGuides, it contains many resources including lesson plans for teaching a particular science topic. Hope this helps. Carolyn
