Engagement for Earth/Space Science

Hi everyone! I am getting prepared to find ideas and strategies to incorporate into my classroom. I was wondering what strategies and activities I can use to keep my students engaged when they are burnt out and tired. I want to be able to keep their focus but also understand that they may feel tired from the long school day.

Dear Priscilla,

If your students are interested in real world applications of what they're learning in class, check out some of the citizen science projects that let anyone and everyone - including students - use real data and contribute to the global body of knowledge about a science-related topic. For citizen science projects in general, visit: https://www.citizenscience.gov/ For NASA-related citizen science, try: https://science.nasa.gov/citizenscience

If you are looking for ideas for hands-on activities, here are lesson plans and videos for over 180 different hands-on activities related to NASA's robotic exploration of Earth and space: https://www.jpl.nasa.gov/edu/teach/

Thanks for working hard to keep your students engaged in their science learning!

Best wishes,

Rachel
