All, A month ago I asked for some advice on creating a Water Cycle for Kids Website. I used your comments to redo what I was building. I now have 2 versions, one for 'Younger kids' and one for 'Older kids' (sorry, I don't know what ages I'd assign to these!). I've tried to Simplify and Shorten the 'Younger' version. http://ga.water.usgs.gov/edu/hotspot.html Can I ask, for the Younger version, when you click on a small picture in the popup, would kids want to see a larger picture? Would just a sentence explaining the picture be enough, rather than more explanation, as the 'Older' version shows? And I will add all the text from the popup boxes into a single page, so it can be printed out. Please let me know of any comments you have. Howard Perlman US Geological Survey [email protected]
I had forgotent the URL: http://ga.water.usgs.gov/edu/hotspot.html
Howard, it looks great! Well done. I love it.
Howard, Could you please give the websites for the younger and older version both so we can compare? Thanks.
Hey. Certainly, The "Older: one is http://ga.water.usgs.gov/edu/hotspot.html The "Younger" one is http://ga.water.usgs.gov/edu/hotspot-young.html (I'm not sure what grade levels would be for each one, though). But, below the title there is a chalkboard with a link to switch back and forth. The image will look the same in both. Thanks for any interest....
Since I did not easily see the younger and older version switch point, I would suggest making it bigger. As for grade level, I think the younger version would fit 5th grade and up. I am not sure where to divide on the upper level of grades. Maybe 5-8 and 9-12. If you want to go younger than 5th grade you will need to shorten the explanations and simplify the words a bit. I hope this helps.
