I am interested in presenting my kindergarten class with a lesson revolving around plants. However, I do not want to do the typical "bean plant in a plastic cup" experiment. What other experiments could I implement to educate my students about plant processes within their realm of understanding? If no experiment, what are some activities or worksheets you suggest I use?

Hi Ashley, I found some resources with ideas of ways to teach about plant processes in new and (hopefully) exciting ways. This first one explains how to assist students in choosing a variable for a plant to see if they will still grow: http://common.nsta.org/resource/?id=10.2505/4/sc11_048_07_40 The second resource has a few activities revolving around plants including leaves, seeds, how plants take in water, and soil: http://common.nsta.org/resource/default.aspx?id=10.2505%2f4%2fsc16_053_09_58 Do you think you'll be able to implement any of these into your kindergarten class? If so, let us know which and how it goes! I also hope that other Early Childhood educators can include some of their favorite lessons about plant processes below or as a reply! -Megan
