I feel as if rural teachers are very undervalued and underappreciated. I have read a lot of resources about the underpaying of teachers who work in these areas and how sometimes they have to get many jobs just to pay their bills. Alabama is one of the lowest-ranked schools in the country and most of their areas are rural. Their overall rank for higher education and k-12 is 50th place. This puts a high amount of pressure on teachers as well as the state itself.
