Although we are given the preperations towards teaching science to our students, How do we know if it is effective?
Test their knowledge at the end of the lesson to see if they retained it. Ask them what they learned.
I think it depends on the content taught. Here are some suggestions, students: explain their thinking through words/sentences/pictures, apply their knowledge to a situation, ask questions, review their science journal, or partner talk (listen in). You may also want to keep a class list handy throughout the unit and make notes to yourself as you listen in to students as they partner talk. You will be able to identify misconceptions and/or understanding of a concept.
Hope that helps.
