HI everyone! I have started my student teaching this semester in the first grade. For one of my classes I have been asked to design a 3 part science lesson. I know the first grade studies weather and seasons. Does anyone have any good ideas for engaging weather lessons, or any other first grade appropriate topics? Thanks, Evan

Have you thought about possible a moon phase lesson? Oreo's are always great to help students understand the phases of the moon.

You could always start with a book to engage them. A book about storms, snow, and other weather occurrences. It can be non-fiction or fiction as long as there is meaningful questioning that occurs during and after.

I did a search on Pinterest.com and found this really fun and engaging activity that I think would be great for your first graders. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-4zJraZ4tgIQ/UbaLPZQXpNI/AAAAAAAAHQU/FUZmVcCa9as/s1600/A+Year+of+Science+Activities.062.jpg It looks like a lot of fun, and is a great hands-on activity. Good luck!
