Never too early to start planning for summer PD opportunities especially if it means traveling to the AMAZON! CHOLARSHIPS are available - get started on your application now! S Last year I was fortunate to co-facilitate the 2013 Educator Academy in the Amazon with Dr. Mo Walters, science methods professor from Arizona State University and we had a great time using the Amazon rainforest as the platform for exploring inquiry, STEM, field research, place-based ed and more! We are ready to roll for 2014 and once again the Educator Academy in the Amazon will offer 50 PD certification hours from Arizona State University, certification in Project Learning Tree’s Forests of the World, and an introduction to GLOBE environmental assessment protocols. New for 2014 is the addition of Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s BirdSleuth K-12 training and even more with Project Noah. Registration and scholarship info can be found on the 2014 Educator Academy in the Amazon webpage: http://www.amazonworkshops.com/educators--naturalists.html Attached is a flyer with more details too. Feel free to contact me for references from last year's graduates or for more information: [email protected]

This sounds like an incredible opportunity! Is this open for K-12 teachers and informal museum educators?
Hi Beverly - Yes it is open to K-12 educators AND informal educators too. Last year we had several informal educators join us including the education director for the Oklahoma City Zoo, a program coordinator from the Butterfly Pavilion in Colorado, and a park ranger from the National Park Service! It is always wonderful when educators from all arenas can come together and share ideas and resources. We'd love to have you join us. Feel free to email me directly if you have questions or need more information! Christa Dillabaugh Education Director, Amazon Rainforest Workshops [email protected] / 1-800-431-2624
