What's one of the best ways to introduce science to students?

Certainly not by having them memorize facts. That's not fun and, more importantly, it's not science. The most important thing is to allow the students to observe the fascinating world in which we live. Take them out into nature. What do they see? What can they ask questions about to better understand. Give them interesting toys that have a scientific component to them, and let them -- out of their own curiosity -- try to figure out what's going on. Science should be presented as it actually is: exploration and discovery!
What grade are you teaching?

Hi Brenda,
I agree with Matt's response. One of the best ways to introduce science to students is to have them look at phenomena. You can do this in many ways. You could ask them to look at what is going on around them. You could show them a cool demonstration or a discrepant events that makes them wonder. Whatever it is make sure it is something that will spark a student's curiousity and make them want to find out more.

I feel like one of the best ways to introduce science to students is by pulling things from the outside world or whats going on around them that relates to the topic being discussed. It's very important that as educators we try to make our lessons as engaging as we can for our students.

Hi! I was asking the same question soon I will be a elementary Science teacher and would like to know the proper steps in how to go about introducing science to the students in a fun and interactive way.

I think a great way to introduce science to younger students is by either experiments that are hands, a short story that ties into the lesson, or watching a short video that explains information to them in a creative way.
