I am a non-formal educator who works in a Nature Center. I am the Adventure Education Manager at a center just outside of Milwaukee. I am interested in finding additional ways to reach students in the classroom as well as helping teachers reach their goals when they are at our site. We currently use pre trip worksheets that introduce the topics and vocabulary. These are sent to all of the teachers prior to their arrival. We also provide post trip games and activities at the same time. Thus far we have seen limited use in our schools. Is there a better way to encourage teachers to use them so students get more out of their trip to our center? Would it help if one of our staff visited the school prior to the trip or would that be an inconvenience to the classroom teacher? Thanks for your comments and suggestions.
