Seeing is Believing-Virtual Field Trips

I think the topic and scary feat for all of us 'newbie' teachers is how to keep your students engaged. Building on the interests and maybe the culture of the students will give us push to know what to do to grab students' attention day to day. The article that I read in NSTA talked about 'Virtual Field Trips'. I really like the idea of incorporating 'Virtual field Trips' in my classroom. Our task is to make sure learners feel a  part of each lesson without concentration on socio-economics, culture, race. Some schools, including mine, ask parents to send as little as $5 to help cover costs of travel or lunches for students if there is an off-campus field trip. My belief is that schools shouold have a 'kitty' or funds to provide for such. Every student is not able to absorb the financial burdens of paying for what some of us think in simple. I speak on this becuase if we are to Talk, Touch, Text with out students to enhance their limitations on learning, especially in the STEAM world, we should research resources to make this happen for all students. My concentration is tho study the linquistics of African American girls as well as girls with challenges cultural differences (i.e. ESOL students). What better way to put a smile on the faces of our learners but to BRING the STEAM fields trips to them utilizing all modual modes of technology.
