As a teacher, we all want science to go as planned. However, that may not be the case. If it fails, look at it as a learning opportunity. Have a brainstorming session to talk about what could have gone wrong: too much/too little water, were the seeds a bad package/seeds too old, sunlight, soil, etc. There are so many varitables that could be discussed. Then ask, 'What should we do now?' I hope you will find that the kids are determined as much as you are to find success. Finally, make a connection to the real world, 'Do you think all seeds grow?' Sometime failure leads to more learning opportunities.
