Hey all, Just wanted to see if anyone else was planning on celebrating Mole Day on October 23, 2012 (next Tuesday) at 6:02 AM or PM. Also, any ideas for cool activities, labs, or demos to check out the mole with chemistry students?

Mole Day is an awesome way to foster interest for chemistry. These Mole Day activities are interesting! I will have to pick something to use tomorrow! What clever ways to spark interest in chemistry!

The activities coordinator at our school always does activities for Pi Day for math. I believe this would be a great activity for our middle school. Mole Day is a great precursor for High School Chemistry. I don't ever remember learning about this at all when I was in school at least not until I was in High school. I will be posting to keep everyone up to date on my event progress.

When I taught chemistry we celebrated mole day by students bringing in materials and making a stuff mole which they then decorated and made it their own. One was an Eistein mole, we had a baseball mole and so forth. Here is a pattern for the mole. Students loved decorating their moles and we would show them off. Kids really got into it.
