NSTA Reports did a story on teachers using the Project BudBurst citizen science program - Studying the Seeds of Climate Change . If you are looking for a way to include citizen science in your teaching, NEON’s Citizen Science Academy (CSA) is a professional development resource designed to help educators engage learners in key aspects of citizen science, from making observations and measurements to visualization of data. CSA offers facilitated, self-paced, online courses for formal and informal educators looking to incorporate citizen science into their educational programs. Fall 2014 term starts Oct 7 through Nov 7. Continuing ed credit available. I participated in one of these courses last year. It was very good. I'd highly recommend, not too much of a time commitment, and pretty flexible. You'll get some great feedback and discourse with other practitioners.
