Hi Kristina,
Thanks for sharing your website link! You've done a fantastic job with your common core resources. Have you had a chance to look at how science specifically fits into the Common Core? Also, have you looked at the overlap between the NGSS and the Common Core?
Thanks!

Hi,
I browsed through some of these resources and honestly feel a bit overwhelmed.
Do you have a particular recommendation for a 6th grade science teacher? Also,
any suggestions on how to incorporate the common core state standards? Next week
I am reviewing inferences and observations and introducing the scientific method.
Thank you!!

Hi Monica!
Your questions are ones that many of us are asking! I've attached an Observation and Inference lesson plan that I did with 4th Graders, but you easily adapt it for 6th graders. Hopefully you'll find it useful. I've been searching for Common Core resources for several months. The states who implements the CCS first have some great lesson planning resources. Try google searching for the standard number, and you will find all kinds of great lesson planning tools and resources. Several teachers have also posted information on activities that worked well (any many that didn't). I've also found some great resources on Pinterest and on Teachers pay Teachers.
I haven't found a website that generally addresses integrating state and common core standards. I think each state is generating it's own information on how to incorporate the common core into your state requirements. Maybe check with your state DOE? Also, if you go to Standards Initiative webpage, you can click on your state and there should be a link to your states common core homepage.
Good luck with everything!

Thanks Maureen!!! Can you tell me what search you did on Pinterest???
In the past, I've searched there for lesson plan ideas but found that
sometimes it is easier and more time efficient to look online. Maybe
I'm missing something???
Also, how do you search for a CCSS number? The ones I am referring to now
have a section such as key ideas and details and then 10 items listed below.
Then, Context types and purposes with 9 items below. Any suggestions on how
to specifically search for those?? Thanks!!
I'm excited to check out the plans you sent!! Thanks again!

Kristina,
Thank you for sharing your resources, what a gold mine. It’s amazing how you think you understand the Common Core and then sit in a district meeting and come away feeling totally lost and overwhelmed. I can’t wait to spend some quiet time with your site.
I appreciate your candidness Maureen, sometimes you do just have to jump in and make a go of what you think you understand and improve from there. I look forward to hearing how others are incorporating Common Core into your practice.
I know this is the first time in many, many years that I have had both a sense of anticipation and awe bound together with a little fear and apprehension. The good news is, we are all in the same place. At least this way, we are all “in the hunt together.”

There have been a series of NSTA webinars on linking NGSS and common core. I have collected these here
