I know that sometimes teaching science can be difficult because the content can be quite complex is there any advice on how to make science fun with hands on activities? Any tips and advice greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Hi Sofia,
For me, I use the same techniques for getting kids attention whether I'm teaching science, reading, or math. These are established procedures from the beginning of school. Here are a few I use: clap or snap patterns, familiar song to finish, everybody listen/right now, alligator alligator/chomp, macaroni and cheese/everybody freeze. I hope these helped.
I really let the kids drive the learning. I've found the more involved they are the more invested they are...Also just sit back and observe them, you might even find phenomena inspiration! For example in TK/K we study pushes and pulls-I often leave a couple slinkys out during our choice time and see what students come up with then bring that back to our whole group time!
