Achieve has created some sample "tests" combining NGSS and CCSS. There are a few examples for middle and high school. Go to: http://www.nextgenscience.org/classroom-sample-assessment-tasks to check them out. Please share here your thoughts on how knowing how the assessments are created will impact your teaching now. Best, Carolyn
I think these are great. I have been working with teachers and Preservice teachers, and these tasks represent the intent that I had conceptualized. Teachers now have case studies that use data and data sets to answer and explore content. I look at these assessments tasks as lesson activities. I take the idea, case, and data and make it into a lesson plan with some added items to complete the 5- E format. I really want to see some elementary examples soon.
Thank you for sharing this resource for Next Generation Science Standards. As a student teacher, I am still trying to understand the standards as well as create lessons that exemplify what they state. Having a resource that supplies me with sample tasks for a STEM Watershed unit will be very valuable as I am getting ready to teach a unit over Ecology. I will certainly make use of these resources more in my teaching career! Brenna
Thank you for these. I have downloaded several of them and I am going to spend some time working through these. They seem very detailed!
These are great. Kentucky was fortunate this time to have some great through course tasks developed for teachers that are modeled after these and built into our state science assessment system.
