I love this metaphore to teach students about particles and to help them become more familiar with solids, liquids, and gases. There are many different pieces that go into building a house, as well as many different particles that go into building a solid. Taking the class on a tour of the school is a great way to keep them engaged while helping them familiarize themselves with how buildings are made. What are some other appropriate and diverse friendly metaphores to teach this material?
