I am new to this so bare with me. I am a preservice teacher at the University of Houston Downtown and currently working on making a lesson plan for force, motion, and energy in 2nd grade using the book Bike on Bear! by Cynthea Liu. I'm my lesson plan I want to keep the students active while learning about force, motion, and energy. I want to have different stations where they will have examples to show them how it work and what is used to exert energy.
My question is what type of different centers would you incorporate that you have found beneficial for students to comprehend force, motion, and energy?
Any input is greatly appreciated. Learning what works best for students will help me become a better teacher in my future career.
Hi! I am a former student studying to become a teacher as well. I observve 1st-3rd grade classes and i've seen them do activities on force, motion and energry. One of the activites is the 'push and pull' whre the students have various object and they have to sort them out on the diagram and determine wether the item requires force by pushing or pulling. All the materials can be found at home or at a dollar store which makes it even better.
Hi im Brittani. No need to worry theres lots of diffrent things you can incorparate with force and motion. What you can do is set up a game day. Plan diffrent games that require the students to either push or pull, for example tug of war, bowling etc. Set up a small field period during play time. Ask them to identify which games requires pulling or pushing. The children will have fun and learn somethings. Afterwards to see what they learned you can give them a take home activity or a worksheet in class.
