It is very difficult to get my child to do homework, what can I do to encourage him to stay concentrated and actually want to do it?

Hi Cariese,

That's a tough one. Especially if the teacher is giving tedious repetitive work for long periods of time. Just wondering, is the homework graded? What grade? Is this for Early Childhood?

The National PTA and the National Education Association suggest a “ 10-minute homework guideline ”— 10 minutes of homework per grade level per night. You may need to have a conversation with the teacher about the situation. Maybe you can suggest homework that is more meaningful and fun. As a parent, do the best you can to explain the importance of homework. You may want to play games or have races to complete with most accuracy. You are their role model.

Good luck!

Try to make his homework a more fun work experience and let him have some breaks when he feels like its too much.
