Hi Jasmine! This question is on everyone's mind. Yes, you can have students engage in investigations and experiments at home but will need to consider materials, supervision, and safety. Thinking about what would be safe in the classroom is a good start.
Another alternative is to do virtual investigations/experiments where you demonstrate, and students make observations, comment, and offer variables. You will need to consider the level of safety, materials, and supervision required to determine if something should/could be done at home or would be a better fit for a demonstration lab.
Be sure to check out Science and Children journals; our authors have been offering alternatives for at-home, hybrid and virtual lessons.
