The latest issue of NSTA Science Teacher includes a great article by Jill Nugent about the importance of having meaningful science activities that can be done outdoors and/or online, where students are located. Nugent's article features NASA GLOBE Observer Mosquito Habitat Mapper.

This is particularly a timely article. The GLOBE Observer Mosquito Habitat Mapper team is kicking off a photo challenge from July 25-August 25. Learn why NASA is interested in mosquitos and how climate change is affecting the spread of mosquito populations. Find out how you and your students can use your smartphone during the Mosquito Habitat Photo Challenge and help science research teams working on artificial intelligence programs to identify mosquito larvae that can help prevent outbreaks of mosquito-borne disease in your community.

Learn more about the challenge, and find lots of educational activities and resources on the challenge page at: https://observer.globe.gov/mosquito-challenge
