April is Citizen Science Month and Introducing citizen science projects is a great Earth Day inclusion for your students and families. How exciting to be able to help real world scientists and make a difference in the world right from your own backyard and neighborhood! We have a new blog all about Citizen Science on the STEM Activities for Kids website. Explanations, resources and book ideas are all provided so you can develop a great intro for your virtual classes this week. Interested in Sci-Starter? We have a link included with other resouces.

The SciStarter site https://scistarter.org/ has many interesting projects, both short- and long-term, that could be of interest to students and their families. I'm involved in several, including one where I analyze and catalog photographs from a wildlife refuge. No special skill or training is necessary, just time and a keen eye! -- Mary B
I have never heard of this site. I cannot wait to use it in the fall. Thanks for sharing.
I have heard that there is a website platform used to help orthalogists track humming bird mirgrations, does anyone know anything about that?
I know about two specific hummingbird projects:
http://www.hummingbirdsathome.org/ by the Audobon Society
and
https://journeynorth.org/ now at the UW-Madison Arboretum
Hope this helps!
I'm not sure about a specific hummingbird project, but there are several ornithology research groups and other topics being hosted on zooniverse! They have projects suitable for all age levels that cover many different science disciplines.
I know that I am super late to the game. But the Cornell Lab of Ornithology has a terrific course focusing on Citizen Science for Educators.
