I am a mentor for a 6-8th grade science club. I would LOVE to have my students participate in this challenge! Sounds like a lot of fun!!

My students would absolutely love this challenge. It will work on there socail skills and creativness which they are great at. How do we figure out what school we send to?

Tonya, this looks like a ton of fun. I looked through the posted link and don’t see any age restrictions, but did find the challenge itself ended April 26, 2013. While the challenge might be officially over, there is no reason the task couldn’t be completed anyway, you would just have to find your own school to exchange with. The eGFI website was full of great ideas though, so I spent some time looking around to see what I could find. I signed up for their newsletters, both as a teacher and as a student. I can’t wait to find information about competitions for the upcoming school year. When I looked at the archived newsletters, I found several that really have my attention – I can’t wait to spend even more time looking at them closely. http://teachers.egfi-k12.org/newsletters/ is the link for teacher newsletters. Sign up was really easy. I can’t wait to explore the website further, and hope there are some new competitions this year we can participate in. I really appreciate your sharing this link Tonya, what a goldmine.

This looks like a really fun project. I remember in school doing something similar but it was called an egg drop. You were to package an egg so well that it would not break when being dropped from fifty feet in the air. This was done by the fire department on their ladder and was a really fun project.

I absolutely LOVE this idea! I did an egg drop project in high school and it was quite the challenge, but I feel like if this was done as a whole class, we could combine all of our brains and try it together! I would love to do something like this! I wonder how long this will be going on for?

This looks like so much fun! Instead of protecting an egg that is being dropped from hundreds of feet in the air, this would be a great alternative!
