What are six simple ways teachers can keep students engaged while giving a lesson in the classroom?

Use songs, hands on, have them act it out, use manipulatives to have them understand, have them draw pictures, and ask them what they think it means before you begin the lesson. If you ask them then you can see if or what they already know about it. Then the activities can help them become better at understanding.

Hello Isabel! This is a very good question because there are teachers that do state the topic then just lecture about it, but most students loose intrest in less than 10-15 minutes. Although I am not a teacher yet, I would use these strategies. 1. Begin the lesson with an interesting fact. 2 Exude enthusiam and engagement. 3 Encourage connections that are meaningful and relevant. 4 Plan for short attention spans. 5 Address different learnign styles and multiple intelligences. 6 Maintain close proximity and eye contact.

Hello Isabel, there are many ways to keep students engaged during a lesson using full particaption strategies such as, graphic organzier to follow along with notes, having them rate themslef on your objective before and after your lesson. Instead of asking questions where studets raise hands you can ask them to use hand signials or a pre-made yes or no card so you can gage all studets level of learning not just the few you call on.
