I have never heard of the 'This and That Box' activity before and I think it is a great way to let students have free range on their creativity. I also loved how the items in the box were collected over a period of time by the students, so it was always random what the students got out of the box when creating something. I am going to use this activity in my future classroom because it can be used as a recess activity as it said in the article or we can use these items to create a replica in science. This activity is just great for letting the students decide what direction they take in an assignment or free time.

This is a very good idea and I will use this with my future students. I completely agree with the roles we have as teachers. I am learning now how to become a teacher and this section of the article helped me a lot. Coming to understand that a teacher must be there to help guide the students in creative thinking and not giving them one way to 'do' science and engineering. Students are creative beings and I am learning that sometimes it's best to let them lead the activity and learn through there creative thinking skills.
