I found this article https://www.nsta.org/blog/future-approaches-instructional-materials-stem-education on NSTA and thought it would be useful to incorporate in lesson planning. The article talks about future approaches to instructional materials in STEM education. To begin with, students explain and design solutions to societal challenges that involve STEM knowledge and practices. The main focal point the article discusses is justice. The goal for the focus on justice is toward promoting informed and repsonsibile citizens who advocate for a more just society. This is important because it opposes the earlier blog post focusing on contemporary appraoches which usually involve science phenomena and engineering problems separate from their social relevance.
