I am in methods class working on a 7th grade lesson for the topic of conservation of mass and energy. My idea was to start by including the introduction of the periodic table. Any suggestions or ideas for activities or lessons would be helpful.
Thank you!
A classic experiment on the conservation of mass is mixing baking soda and vinegar in a sealed ziplock bag. This lab is similar to what I have done. http://www.mlbgsd.k12.pa.us/cms/lib/PA09000085/Centricity/Domain/83/conservation_mass_lab4.pdf
You can use small plastic cups instead of beakers. I'm not sure how you could relate it to the periodic table, other than looking up the elements in the compounds and finding them. Good Luck!
