Planning an NGSS Curriculum

While the NGSS specify what students need to learn, educators at the state, district, and school level face many choices in developing a curriculum to support the standards. This session provides guidance based on the model course maps in the appendixes of the NGSS.

Translating the NGSS for Classroom Instruction

This session-based on the best-selling NSTA Press book, Translating the NGSS for Classroom Instruction - looks at how educators can design classroom instruction to help their students achieve the standards.

Finding and Evaluating Resources for NGSS: The EQuIP Rubric and the NGSS@NSTA Hub

To aid the search for resources that support the NGSS, NSTA and Achieve have been working with science educators across the country to develop a rubric for determining if resources address the letter and spirit of the standards. In addition, NSTA has formed a group of 55 curators who are using this rubric to identify resources that support the standards. These resources will be one of many features of the NGSS@NSTA Hub, a digital destination to support educators' implementation of the NGSS.

Panel Discussion: The Future of Assessment with the NGSS

The performance expectations in the NGSS were designed to require assessment that would measure not just what students know, but what they can do with that knowledge. Many changes will be necessary in what assessment looks like, from simple formative assessment within the classroom to statewide (and possibly nationwide) summative assessments. This panel discussion features the perspectives of educators who have begun to explore this new world.
