I too am a student teacher, thanks for the great resources! My daughter did an awesome experiment in school with magnets and cereal. They took a plastic sandwich bag and smashed Cheerios up in it. This is a great question. I think it is important to help students make connections to what they are learning. If they can relate to the information then they can develop a better understanding of the content. The key is to use words and language that is at their level.
