I am a retired Air Force veteran of 22 years. After retiring in 2000, my wife, Denise, and I moved to Buckingham to start a new career. This is my 8th year teaching Primary School. I can't wait to see the light bulb come on when a child gets a problem they have been stumped on. Denny and I have one child, Erik, and the proud grandfather of Kimmie, Caeden, Christian, and now Stephen.

I agree it is a challenge to teach science in class. We currently have only 30 minutes to teach either science or social studies in class. We alternate every 2 weeks and it is getting tougher to teach because the focus is on reading then math. We use cooperative discipline at our school. The older the children get the harder it becomes. I teach 2nd grade and for some, a color change in their folder is enough to correct the behavior. Getting parents on board helps as well. Be fair, firm, and consistent as well.
