The Early Years: Becoming Attuned to Sound Review
This article describes the importance of child exploration. The author makes it clear that even from a young age, children are engaged and enjoy investigating through exploration. When children get the opportunity to explore on their own, they are more likely to understand the material because they can make connections. I enjoyed how the article was linked to one of the NGSS standards in which students must, "Plan and conduct investigations to
provide evidence that vibrating materials
can make sound and that sound
can make materials vibrate”. The article gave a great example of an activity that can be done following this standard. I liked how the author emphasized the importance of the learning component by the teacher but also the exploration as well. I found the questions the teacher would ask for reflection to be interesting to assess the student's knowledge on the topic. Overall, I found this article to be extremely helpful in preparing my own science lesson.

Science Shorts "Sounds" Like Science Review
This article describes in detail the important aspects of the 5 E's and how to implement them for a specific standard. I enjoyed reading about their approach in teaching about sound waves. A point the authors made that I found extremely interesting as an educator, is the fact that with the STEM approach, we must teach the students the vocabulary; even if it may seem too difficult. The vocabulary may be challenging, but it gives students the opportunity to use what they know to further their learning over time. The article is clear and gives multiple examples of how to address the 5 E's in a K-2 classroom. I enjoyed reading this article and learning about the author's approach to implementing the 5 E's on the specific standard. The article has allowed me to use this information for my benefit in planning my own lessons.
