The latest is Pluto is no longer a planet and I catch myself teaching it as a planet. At that time, I remember and I tell my students it is no longer a planet, but a dwarf planet. I can see where there will be discussions on going about it's classification and Pluto's status may change. The books in my room on planets were bought at least 5 years ago and they are wrong now. It is a teaching moment...

I find out the my students (Kindergarten) like Magic School Bus for science and the Leap Frog series for the letters, sounds and making words. This year, I incorporated the movie Star Trek (the latest one)to introduce the unit on celestial objects and Contact to end the unit to see if they can draw/name the celestial objects they see. Have you ever wondered about Nutrition? If you have, this SciGuide is for you. It covers three main areas: Food, Body Functions and Food Choices. Each area has media clips, other resources you can go to and lesson plans. The lesson plans are written in a way that it is clear what you are expected to do and step by step directions. The plans are for elementary students. This SciGuide is easy to read and to follow the links. Each of the sections gives a background information, which is useful before clicking on the links. Each main topics have subtopics under them and they have a brief background about them.
